Pay It Forward 7-4-2018

The baristas at Go Dog Go Cafe are big fans of Pay It Forward Thursdays. We think it is a great opportunity to give a shout-out to another writer who has wowed us or creatively inspired us.  However, Pay It Forward Thursday has not been getting a lot of love lately, which we think is a shame. Dear reader, you are losing out on some great writing! We’ve decided to shake things up a little and the baristas will be reblogging our Pay It Forward picks for the week directly onto GDG Cafe so you don’t miss out on our favorites.

We like this idea so much that we will also reblog the posts you think were the best thing you read this week if you drop a link below. You are invited to post one link to one specific post (600 words or less please!) from someone…

Poem: When My Humor Goes

Crow On The Wire

When my humor goes,
I picture myself sitting alone
on an old tattered chair
in a dark and dusty room
with a perpetual frown,
taking life too serious,
never cracking a smile
from a timely punchline
or chuckling when someone
unexpectedly takes a tumble

When my humor goes,
I won’t see life’s funny twists and turns,
nor bend over from a side-splitting joke
with eyes full of tears
I will sit on my old tattered chair
in a room devoid of hilarity
without a snicker or a guffaw,
never again enjoying
the healing benefits
of the best gift of them all.

When The Hurting Is Done

Walt's Writings

In his hour of darkness
The hurting had begun
It always came
No matter what he did
Or where he was
It was always there
Like it was waiting
He closed his eyes
But sleep doesn’t come
There’s nowhere to run
Nowhere to hide
He prays for relief
But that makes it worse
In his heart he knows
That the day will come
When his hurting is done
Unfortunately so will he
But still he fights

Dedicated to all who suffer with any form of chronic pain
