Go Dog Go Café

Pay It Forward 7-4-2018

The baristas at Go Dog Go Cafe are big fans of Pay It Forward Thursdays. We think it is a great opportunity to give a shout-out to another writer who has wowed us or creatively inspired us.  However, Pay It Forward Thursday has not been getting a lot of love lately, which we think is a shame. Dear reader, you are losing out on some great writing! We’ve decided to shake things up a little and the baristas will be reblogging our Pay It Forward picks for the week directly onto GDG Cafe so you don’t miss out on our favorites.

We like this idea so much that we will also reblog the posts you think were the best thing you read this week if you drop a link below. You are invited to post one link to one specific post (600 words or less please!) from someone…

Log Cabin Ruminations

Writing and Reflections

In this place of peace
sunlight is dispersed through
the canopy of ancient trees
A kaleidoscope of color
explodes on the forest floor
with beads of amethyst and gold
Energy released is all at once
both graceful and restless
naming this time for healing
Chaos rearranged in
letters and leaves and truth
drift on a soft breeze and
whisper a new story

Poesy plus Polemics

sarg “Old North Cemetery” by Mary Sarg Murphy

I never felt wind
in a graveyard
flowers stand where they died
unscattered and dried
by the merciless
beating rays of the sun
perhaps stillness
is something ordained
by the stones
somber sentries
permitting no airstream
to move through these
wrought-iron precincts
except for the breathy
expulsion of sighs
that accompany whispers
from underneath
mounded green sod
asking “Why?”
then and now
once and over again
but no answer
has ever stirred
motionless mourning
no reason been heard
by the dutiful stones
or the listening bones
lying under their watch

The Only One

Sarah Doughty

“Don’t you see?
You were always the one.”

Don’t you see? You were always the one that could make my heart beat erratically. You were always the one that could make butterflies try to erupt from my stomach and fill up my lungs. You were the one that could steal my breath and leave me lightheaded, only wanting more. You were always the one that made my lips itch the need to kiss you. To hold your hand, if only to be closer to you.

So don’t you see? You were always the one for me.

Always the one.

This Is Me

Walt's Writings

This is me

The way I am

Love me or hate me

But don’t try to change me

I’ll treat you the same

As you treat me

I don’t really care

If you like me or not

If you have something to say

Say it to me

I don’t drop friends

Because we disagree

I’m a dreamer

A schemer

And I’m a believer

A writer

A Poet

A romantic senior

What I say to you

Comes from my heart

And if you are really listening

It comes from my soul

~The Tennessee Poet~
