Go Dog Go Café

Pay It Forward 7-4-2018

The baristas at Go Dog Go Cafe are big fans of Pay It Forward Thursdays. We think it is a great opportunity to give a shout-out to another writer who has wowed us or creatively inspired us.  However, Pay It Forward Thursday has not been getting a lot of love lately, which we think is a shame. Dear reader, you are losing out on some great writing! We’ve decided to shake things up a little and the baristas will be reblogging our Pay It Forward picks for the week directly onto GDG Cafe so you don’t miss out on our favorites.

We like this idea so much that we will also reblog the posts you think were the best thing you read this week if you drop a link below. You are invited to post one link to one specific post (600 words or less please!) from someone…

Disturbingly Pretty

Midwest Fantasy Writes

disturbingly prettyHe caught

her disturbingly pretty eyes

in a glance

causing him

to stumble

color defying words

lure he could taste

upon lips dry with need

fumbling like a schoolboy

words escaped his mind

only audible sound

the thumping of his heart

and somehow

she heard

and curled her finger

saying “Come here”

If Only

Dark Side of the Moon

I sit on porch and watch the people pass
While fickle rain comes down in starts and stops.
A tiny tree frog from the awning hops
And seeks new shelter in the green of grass.
The moistened pavement shimmers much like glass.
An acorn falls, and in a puddle plops,
A puddle made by many dewy drops—
A wonder, that uniting, they amass.

If only we could come together too,
United in one purpose, for one cause,
To think of ourselves less, of others more,
To put an end to hatred, strife, and war.
The rain would rise, the thunder sound applause,
Imagining the wonders we could do!

I think back and I remember all the dreams we shared. I remember all the fights, the debates, the passion between us. I remember how you were my home, even though you were miles away. And I always thought the road we took would bring us together. But life had other plans for us. I don’t think a day will ever go by that I won’t think about us and what we were, or wonder what you’re doing in that moment, but you deserve to move on. You deserve happiness. I hope it finds you. I wish nothing but the best for you, because you are my soulmate — one hell of a friend. Better than I deserve.

We were always meant to say goodbye to what we could have…
