I’ve been holding you
in my thoughts all day
like I used to do
with my girls
at the playground
my eyes were always
watching them
that’s where my heart was
they are part of me
family
loved ones
we played together
they played alone
or with others
but they were
always on my mind
I carried on conversations
and did things
but I was watching them
for their safety
out of love
for the sheer enjoyment
of having them in my life
they brought me such pleasure
and pride as their father
I was glad to be
a part of their life
I’ve been holding you
in my thoughts all day
you’ve been on my mind
constantly
does that tell you
what you are to me
does that speak of my caring
of my feelings
of the joy
of the pleasure
of dreams
together
alone
or with others
I’ve been holding you
in my thoughts all day
and each day is blessed
with thoughts of you
