The Shaping of Clay

Come and enjoy Christine’s beautiful – THE SHAPING OF CLAY

Brave & Reckless

There are days
and nights
where the only thing keeping me
from sliding completely
into the abyss
from dissolving
into something
shapeless
nameless
is your skin
against my skin
your mouth
against my mouth
Grounding me
Calling me home

When the knowledge
of where I begin
and end
starts to slip away from me
your body remembers
who I am
Your hands
mouth
remember
the shape of me
The essence of me
The essence of us
How we fit together

It is fortunate for me
during this long darkness
that you are here
to guide me back
to where we live
To remake me
piece by
fragmented piece
when I have lost
the shape of myself
And that you have been
willing to do this
over and over again

What If

Frank Solanki

What if the stars forgot to shine?
What if the clocks didn’t strike nine?
What if it was cold in summer
And spring was a bummer?
What if my poems began to sing?
The bees refuse to sting?
And if God controlled me?
Will you still hold me?

What if I broke my leg and fell
Into the deepest darkest well
That is hosting a little tea party
With all the guests hale and hearty
Two of whom are green and blue
While the others have caught a flu
And the dew comes to kiss me?
Will you still miss me?

What if the years had less days
The days had less hours
And hours less minutes
And minutes less beats?
Will you still love me tomorrow
Like you do today?
For this moment is all that we have
And yesterday has flown away

Yesterday (Sunday), I listened to a message entitled ‘enough’. It spoke of a culture that seeks fulfillment in the physical accumulation of more and more stuff. Although I had never thought of it, we place our hopes and dreams in things that will ultimately end up in a landfill.

It was a message designed to motivate, at a time when most churches are looking for financial commitment. The minister spoke of tithing and ways of getting by on less. The ultimate question asked again and again, ‘how much is enough’…….

I was reminded of a conversation with my sister a few years back whenil_570xN_612348975_1pc4 we talked about all we had, and how it was nothing more than on loan from a greater power. How many cell phones do we need? How big does a TV need to be in order to be enough?

Later, I was thinking back on this…
