There Is A Truth
“They” Won’t Tell You
In An Effort
To Spare Your Feelings
And Not To Damage
Your Self-Esteem

“They” Think,
“They” Are
Doing You
A Favor

By Keeping
The Harsh
Reality Of Life
Hidden From View

“They” Want You
To Be Happy
And Content
With How
Things Are

“They” Don’t
Want You
Rocking The Boat,
Causing Trouble,
Infecting Others,
Going Insane
Or Giving Up
On Life
As You Know
It Now

“They”
Usually
Mean Well,
But Not Always

“They”
Have A Vested
Interest
In Keeping
Things
The Way
They Have
Always Been

“They”
Want You
To Be
Part Of The Crowd
A Worker Bee
A Faithful Ant
In The Colony
You Came From

“They”
Won’t Tell You
The Truth
Because

“They”
Don’t Want You
To Know,
Or Don’t Believe It
Themselves,
And Want To Keep It
Hidden
In Plain sight
But Not Understood
Or Appreciated

The Truth Is,
NO ONE WILL
REMEMBER YOU!!

The Cold, Hard
Truth
That None Of Us
Want To Accept

No One Will
Remember You,
Unless You
Give Them
A Reason Too

When The Last
Person Who Knew You
Passes Away
You Will Not
Be Remembered
As Ever Having
Been Alive
And Living
On The Earth

You Will Think
I’m Mean Or Evil
For Telling You This
But?

Shouldn’t You Know
The Truth Now
So You Can Do
Something About It
Now?

While There Is Still Time
To Make Sure
The World Does Remember
You

There Are A Few
Among Us
That The World
Will Remember
But Why You Ask?

Well, Unless You
Want To Be One Of Them
And Do What It Takes
To Make Sure You Are
Remembered

You Should
Stop Reading Now
And Go On With
The Life That You
Have Now
And Never Give This
Another Thought
In Your Lifetime

If, On The Other Hand
You Want To Be Remembered
For Being A Good Person,
If Not A Great Person
Then Here Are Some
Of The Answers
(Not All)
For You

Do Something!

You Have To Do
Something
That Will Make
A Difference
In The World

Something
That Will Leave
A Permanent Mark
That Shows You Were
Here

Not Just A Headstone
To Mark Your Passing,
You Have To Do Something
With Your Life
Besides Dying

You Have To
Do Something!

Make A Mark
On The World

Build Something
Create Something
Invent Something
Be An Artist
An Architect
A Poet
A Writer
A Composer
A World Leader
A Local Leader
A Philanthropist
A Mahatma Gandhi
A Mother Teresa

Make Your Voice
Heard In The World,
Change It For The Better

Dream A Dream
Set A Goal
And Make It
Come True

Even If It Seems
Your Dream
Is An Impossible Dream
Believe
You Can Make It Come
True

Make The World Better
 Because You Are
In It – Now

Make A Lasting Mark
On The World
For The Good

I Want You

    1. Well, it seems that most people have a desire to contribute to the betterment of the world and being remembered is a way to show that they were successful, to some degree.

      You are right that posterity cannot provide an in person knowledge of a person but deeds and accomplishments are a way to get to know about and develop an appreciation of a person’s life and whatever they may have left behind. I’m guessing that even reaching a person’s heart and emotions through a poem or story is seen as a betterment of at least that person’s life? And we do like to be remembered for things we do, don’t we? Otherwise, we wouldn’t sign our names and secure copyright to what we write???

      1. If we can create beauty, or a place for joy in another’s life, is it not the act that matters, or its result for that person, rather than the recognition for ourselves?
