Glimmering Dew

Glimmering dew
settles on verdure with outstretched limbs.
Glimmering dew
sheds fresh tears for a day anew.
Caught upon threads of silky whims
and clinging to flowers’ colourful rims.
Glimmering dew.

Author’s Note: The Rondelet is a French form consisting of a single septet with two rhymes and one refrain: AbAabbA. The capital letters are the refrains, or repeats. The refrain is written in tetra-syllabic or dimeter and the other lines are twice as long – octasyllabic or tetrameter.

Her Writing Haven

I’ve used a million
And that’s quite enough
In my opinion

Yet impulse clings
Urging me on
Even when desire
Has all but gone

Motivation
Just won’t relent
Keeps reminding me
I’m not done yet

And so I get up
And off I go
Waiting for inspiration
To commence the flow

Then wretched time
Steps right in
Stalling the words
Just as they begin

I start to wonder
Will I ever finish
Before my words
Do finally diminish

Like the hummers, we have flown away,

to a place where wi-fi doesn’t fly.

I can’t get a satellite signal consistent enough to upload,

here in The Cook Islands.

But, I am getting stunning island vistas.

Sending Holler Hummer hopes that you are healthy and well,

and looking forward to connecting with you when we fly back to civilization.

Never preoccupied by screens screaming

unknown friends, nor business buzzing heads.

Mine sit in wait, pocket ready, stacked bedside,

cursive faded on the bathroom mirror. Ever-ready

to ask courageous questions, reassuring palms

warmly press down on my shoulders. They lead

remind from behind, cocoon me from nightmare bombs

and disappearing green, when my inside raisins.

Trustworthy friends of ink, folded and unfolded

because the need is so great.
