LET THE WINDS CARRY YOU HOME

WALKING BACK HOME
By Charles Robert Lindholm

I Have Journeyed
Far Away From Home
Into A Distant Land
In Search Of Pleasure
And Freedom From
The Chains Of My
Father’s House

I Have Lived
In A Riotous
Lifestyle
And Found It
To Be Empty
Of Meaning
And True Joy

I Have Been Drunk
And Yet Still Thirsty,
A Glutton And Yet
Still Hungry
In The Depths
Of My Heart
And Soul

I Have Been Betrayed
By False Friends
And Learned
That I Am A Fool

Unworthy
And Callous
To A Love
That Was Faithful
And Always Mine

My Heart Has Been
Hearing The Gentle
Whispers On The Wind
That I Have  Ignored
In The Past

But Homeless
And Penniless
It Has A Familiar
Feeling

An Instinctive
Calling That
I Shall No Longer
Ignore

I Dream Of Home
And Hear The
Loving Words
Of My Father
In My Soul
Calling To Me

“Let The Winds
Carry You Home
Swiftly And Softly,
My Son!  Please Return
Home!
Come Back Home.”

And As I Awake
To Reality
Even The Fool
That I Am
Knows
The Choice
That My Heart
Longs For Me
To Make

The Choice
I Shall Make
As I Set My Face
Toward The Sun
With The Wind
At My Back
And Take
One Step At A Time,
Back Toward
The House Of My Father
And Follow The
Gentle Whispers Of His Heart
That Are Leading Me Home
