By Charles Robert Lindholm
I was dancing in the shadows
clearly out of sight
when somehow
she found me
hiding from
the light
I told her I was fearful
of dancing in plain sight
she laughed
and said she’d
teach me
smiling
in delight
And so we twirled and twisted
with no music
in the air
as the sun
began to sink
we didn’t even care
We slowed danced
into darkness
and as I held her tight
she whispered
what she wanted,
was to waltz on
through the night
And I was glad
to grant her wish
and glad
that mine came true
And as we shared
a morning kiss
with a dream
of new romance
we watched
the curtains dance
in the morning breeze
in the warming sun
laughing at the shadows
