SNOWFLAKES ONLY LEAVE MEMORIES

By Charles Robert Lindholm

Now is a snowflake
of time that lands
on your tongue
HAPPINESS IS CATCHING SNOWFLAKES ON YOUR TONGUE
you feel it
you taste it
it was real
but then
it is gone

you savored it
you saved it
as a memory
but there is
no proof
no trophy
of the moment
to  show

snowflakes
leave no momentos

dried flowers
in a book
prove there was
a Spring
I WISH I COULD PRESS SNOWFLAKES
Snowflakes
leave only memories
of a now with you
I will never forget
and that is proof
enough for my heart
