HAS THERE BEEN AN ECHO FROM MY LIFE?

By Charles Robert Lindholm

I imagine standing
at the edge of eternity
at the edge of the abyss
and wondering
if there has been an echo
from the life I have lived on earth
anywhere in the world

has there been a resonance with anyone
from my time here
from anything that I have done or written?
I wonder,
I have my doubts
the truth stings

Time well spent or wasted
sometimes a single moment in time
changes history, changes destiny
and changes our life
I have learned that lesson well
during my life’s journey

Perhaps a poet doesn’t get echoes
maybe a poet’s words don’t bounce back
in an echo to revel in
because they are absorbed
into the heart
like the rain on a desert
so that flowers can bloom
and seeds of inspiration
grow
and bring joy
to a reader’s heart

My life will have no echoes

HAS THERE BEEN AN ECHO FROM MY LIFE

but perhaps the ripples
from my words
will bring a smile
to someone’s face
and touch their heart

and I will be happy!

    1. Hi Chris!!! So great to see you! Yes, indeed, at least for me. You though have been blessed with such a rich life and having been there to comfort those in there time of need! Great job Sunday!!! That was fun.

Now that you have “broken the ice” maybe I will see more of you? LOL!

  1. Charles thank you for turning the Poetic Motivation into this excellent poetry. I used to think of poems as seeds, but maybe they are echoes. Your poems and words echo and touch many hearts.

    1. Thanks Davy! I always appreciate your comments and views!! Maybe poetry is a shape shifting type of thing? I do hope you are right about that. I know yours has a way of touching me and I love it!!!

  2. I loved this, it’s so very true that we reflect on the impact we’re making in this world. I know I do at least. If my children are my ripples then I have to say Bravo to myself. They are awesome people and I feel like I had a hand in shaping that. But…what of my other ripples in life…? I would like to reblog this on mine-you might have inspired a post in me 😉
