there are always greener pastures

      there are always bigger fish

      bigger, better, different

      it’s called “the endless wish”

      an endless wish for fantasy

      and romance on demand

      you still believe in magic

and the perfect life you planned

      your prince or princess lives

      and someday you will meet

she’ll kiss a frog, prince charming

he’ll put glass slippers on her feet

you think you’ve finally found them

      your fantasy come true

all the things you dream of

      a perfect love for you

      the magic’s unmistakeable

in the passion of their kiss

you know that this was meant to be

      and plan on wedded bliss

      everything is wonderful

      ’til life starts closing in

      the mind again is sober

      and the magic’s wearing thin

you thought you found the perfect one

but again it’s just a trick

no sorrow, guilt or feeling trapped

      your exit must be quick

      the reasons you discover

      help to mend your pride

      the endless wish is working

      to ease the pain inside

the quest goes on and on and on

while lives and loves are shattered

the “prize of love” is what you want

      but the person never mattered

      true love is demanding

      contentment always sweet

      “the endless wish” is empty

      always incomplete

    1. Now You My Dear are very insightful!! Thank You for that wise comment! Yes, True Love is hard work through the ups and downs, the sickness and health, rich or poor. It takes a Love of the person with all their faults and warts! My personal belief that the ’til death do us part is more of a statement from the heart and soul rather than the rigid, short sighted beliefs of society and its organizations. Just Me.

Thank You for visiting and Your lovely comment. Your continued support is so appreciated!!!

      1. No, it’s not just you. Pure love is rare these days. Now it’s all about showing it to the world more than actually feeling it. For me it’s simple. If you love someone and want to be with that person for the rest of your life, you’ll do it (assuming the feelings are mutual, of course)😁 You’ll go through all the ups and downs, the good and the bad etc. and work it out. No second thoughts about that.

    1. Thank You! Yes, dangerous indeed! Well, settling down might not be quite what You meant but I understand! Giving up on some unrealistic dreams that have been sold to us, perhaps? Actually, the endless wish can pop up at anytime I guess, even after one is married and thinks that they are losing out on “Greener pastures, bigger fish”. True Love is a daily choice we make each day isn’t it?

As Always, My Friend! Thank you so much for your everyday support of me and my writing! Your Friendship is important to me

      1. Your words ring true. True love is indeed a daily choice. Even true love can’t survive without our constant assuring and hope. And I did mean, unrealistic dreams, when I said, unending wish. Always glad to spread some love!
