ONE HEART – NOT TWO

I love to see you smile

when I finally am awake

 ONE HEART- NOT TWO - COUPLE SMILING IN BED

 

but then I have to pinch myself

so I know there’s no mistake

 

ONE HEART - NOT TWO - I HAVE TO PINCH MYSELF

 ONE HEART - NOT TWO - AND THEN I COUNT MY BLESSINGS

And then I count my blessings

ONE HEART - NOT TWO - AND THEN I COUNT MY BLESSINGS #3

                                                                                                          ONE HEART - NOT TWO - AND THEN I COUNT MY BLESSINGS #2

each hour of the day  

  ONE HEART - NOT TWO - EACH HOUR OF THE DAY

and gently hold you in my heart

ONE HEART - NOT TWO - AND GENTLY HOLD YOU IN MY HEART #4

while you are far away       

ONE HEART - NOT TWO - WHILE YOU ARE FAR AWAY

 And when I fall asleep each night          

I dream a dream of you

ONE HEART - NOT TWO - AND WHEN I FALL ASLEEP EACH NIGHT

 

I hold you oh, so close to me

and hear one heart – not two ONE HEART - NOT TWO - LISTENING TO HEARTBEAT

And as you softly sing to me

ONE HEART - NOT TWO - SOFTLY SINGING

we slowly drift away

in each other’s arms

ONE HEART - NOT TWO - IN EACH OTHER'S ARMS

toward the,

 dawning of the day

ONE HEART - NOT TWO - DAWNING OF THE DAY

  7. There are such sweet moments in our lives like the fresh feeling of being in love. We can love someone and be past the “honey moon phase.” Love is often unromantic. It is sacrifice, give and take, as well as lots of communication. We get tired because of our daily life and need to rekindle our romance on an ongoing basis. I totally believe that love and that “butterfly” feeling takes effort on both people, especially after years go by and you have kids…etc. 🙂

    1. Very eloquently said! You are so right. It does take effort and attention to stay in that “In Love” feeling. Like tending a garden? Oh, I love that phrase “that Butterfly feeling”!!!   8. Charles. What I love about this poem is how you break the flow with the images. This slows the reader down and the image reinforce the emotion of the words. Excellent 🙂

  10. This is a most beautiful poem, dreamy, and gentle and full of adoration, oh she is very lucky, this person who gets such attention and undivided attention. you tug on my heart strings with such lovely words. Master with the words, I almost felt like singing to it!

      You have rightly divined that this was written from the female viewpoint but it is also a shared experience of love, trust and surrender to the other that makes it glorious?
