ONE HEART – NOT TWO
By Charles Robert Lindholm 3-15-2017 at 4:45 a.m.
I love to see you smile
when I finally am awake
but then I have to pinch myself
so I know there’s no mistake
And then I count my blessings
each hour of the day
and gently hold you in my heart
while you are far away
And when I fall asleep each night
I dream a dream of you
I hold you oh, so close to me
and hear one heart – not two
And as you softly sing to me
we slowly drift away
in each other’s arms
toward the,
dawning of the day

Why thank you so much! That is so kind and appreciated. Poet’s are always wanting and trying to touch someone with our words and I’m so glad this touched you. Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my blog but even more for stopping to comment! Thanks again.

There are such sweet moments in our lives like the fresh feeling of being in love. We can love someone and be past the “honey moon phase.” Love is often unromantic. It is sacrifice, give and take, as well as lots of communication. We get tired because of our daily life and need to rekindle our romance on an ongoing basis. I totally believe that love and that “butterfly” feeling takes effort on both people, especially after years go by and you have kids…etc. 🙂

Very eloquently said! You are so right. It does take effort and attention to stay in that “In Love” feeling. Like tending a garden? Oh, I love that phrase “that Butterfly feeling”!!! I’m going to store that one in my Word Bank. So cool! Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and to comment. I really enjoy the insights in your replies!!

Yes, butterfly feelings go. Old soil requires fresh fertilizer from time to time in order to keep “tend the garden.” 😊

Ok, I have opened an account for you in my Word Bank! In the last few days I have written several pieces that after looking back at your post above I can see you helped provide a seed for with your comment, “Butterfly feeling”. I haven’t posted them all but you can check out “When You Come To Me”.
I am afraid this makes you an Official Member of my “Inspirators Gang” for providing Seeds Of Inspiration! It’s actually, pretty good company – see DavyD, Singledust and Sailorpoet as other members of the Gang! LOL! I have a “bad?” habit of rereading comments.
Cheers to You

Ha ha…I a man honored to be part of your inspirational gang, my friend. I will look at your blog soon. It has sucked not having my laptop. I ordered a new one as my daughter poured coffee on my last one. But thank the universe and the powers that be, that I backed everything up!!! 😊

The thanks and honor is mine! I am so happy to have connected with you! And happy you are part of the “Inspirators”. You story with your Mac 2011 is absolutely scary to me!!! I’m going to go back up my laptop Now!! Yes, “sometimes” the Universe can bless us. So great to chat!!

Charles. What I love about this poem is how you break the flow with the images. This slows the reader down and the image reinforce the emotion of the words. Excellent 🙂

Wow! Thank you so much for you comments! You are forever the insightful one! Not sure I was intentionally intending that. What I was going for was tying a visual image to the words. Maybe it worked? Thanks again for the kind comments and for coming to visit!!

High praise from you, Sir! Thanks for shepherding “The Backside Of The Night” and the Compilation! Are you having as much fun watching this as I am??

Yes, very humbling! It is on the other hand so much fun to see something grow and to meet such great new people! Funny looking back, isn’t it, that this all started from your one little comment and then your suggestion to start a Meme? As my wife says about these types of things – Meant to be!!! Hope you have a great weekend!

And I you. My own backside is in my favorite spot to write this backside of night. It is very fun to watch this, I agree and what an amazing group of people and writers growing up around us! While it was a comment, I have to share the profits of the energy with you. You recognized it as something more than a clever remark and have been its greatest advocate! We shall share and enjoy in its continuing development!

Yes, The very best thing is the wonderful people that are hearing the call from “The Backside Of The Night” and coming to join in. What a great group!!
You are such a Friend and Kindred Spirit! You are too gracious and generous with your praise! I think you win the prize for being the biggest advocate and most effective! I’m content to be the sidekick! Thanks for your willingness to share in the delight this brings. I think it will bring together a very positive and uplifting group!! Just keep those clever remarks coming. Your words in that comment just called out to me like in “I Am Not A Poet”. They had a story to tell.
Hope you are having a great weekend!

This is a most beautiful poem, dreamy, and gentle and full of adoration, oh she is very lucky, this person who gets such attention and undivided attention. you tug on my heart strings with such lovely words. Master with the words, I almost felt like singing to it!

I’m so glad you liked it! “Almost”?? I missed the mark? Oh, shoot!
You have rightly divined that this was written from the female viewpoint but it is also a shared experience of love, trust and surrender to the other that makes it glorious?
Maybe you should give me some hints on topics that make your heart sing??

yes almost! but not by your fault, my own, too tired tonight. it was a wonderful gift though and I thank you for telling me and getting me here. What makes my heart sing? poem on losing love and never finding it!

I feel like I missed the game winning shot at the buzzer! Ok, next?
So, a poem on losing love and never finding it in the same poem? Or just one or the other? Oh, well maybe I should go and dig out some of my old, sad poems. So, how does a poem that makes you sad make you want to sing???
