PEEK-A-BOO
By CHARLES ROBERT LINDHOLM 1-30-2017 – 4:00 a.m.
A BLISTERINGLY,
BLAZING YELLOW FIREBALL
LAUNCHES AN ATTACK
UPON THE NIGHT
PRECISELY WHEN THE COCK CROWS
AT DAWN
IT’S A SNEAK ATTACK
BUT NOT REALLY
WE SIT AND WATCH THE SHOW
MOTHER NATURE’S
GAME OF PEEK-A-BOO
WE’VE COME TO
LOVE AND KNOW
THE SUN JUMPS OUT
AND SCARES THE NIGHT
AND THE DARKNESS
RUNS AWAY
THE NIGHT
IT RUNS AROUND THE WORLD
AND CREEPS BACK IN THE SKY
AS DARKNESS HUMS A SUNSET SONG
A SLEEPY LULLABY
DAY IS DONE
AND GIVES A YAWN
AS THE SUN GOES OFF TO SLEEP
BUT ANOTHER GAME OF PEEK-A-BOO
WILL START ANEW AT DAWN

Thanks so much!! I really value your reactions and impressions! Yes, it was written that way and I’m glad it came across. The recurring transitions just reminded me of the never ending joy that an infant gets out of the game of “Peek-A-Boo” status of now you see me, now you don’t.

An interesting poem describing sunset and sunrise Charles. I enjoy the way it has been written, it seems, through a child’s eyes. It give the poem innocence and taking you back to the basics of nature.
